Oak Brook, IL – Quest Design Group hired two interns for the summer to work in the company headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Jacob “Jake” Culver is from Mokena, Illinois. He is a graduate from Bradley University and will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama this fall.
“I’ve always enjoyed math and fixing things around the house,” says Mr. Culver, “And my little brother is really into electronics so engineering has slowly turned into a hobby of mine.”
Unsure which branch of engineering to study, Mr. Culver likes the versatility of a mechanical engineering. He loves to design things and is also interested in thermal electric. Ultimately, he would like to do product design and work on an engineering team.
Jake has three siblings and loves sports – running, swimming, and water polo.
Ian Holm is from Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He graduated from Glen Bard West High School and will attend Iowa State University to study mechanical engineering.
When asked about his interest in engineering, Mr. Holm shares, “My first car was a ’97 Mazda Miata. It needed a lot of work. My father and I replaced the clutch at a friend’s house that had a lift. We ended up having to make a part that we couldn’t buy. They pulled out AutoCAD, designed a custom part, and printed it with a 3-D printer! I’ve always been fascinated with figuring out how things work, taking measurements, and designing solutions.”
When he’s not fixing things, Ian loves to cook and try new things. He’s pretty good at making sushi and likes to play the guitar. After college Mr. Holm is interested in working in the automotive field.
“QDG is committed to supporting the communities in which we serve and sustaining the field of engineering,” says Ruben De La Fuente, Vice President of Operations for Quest Design Group, “We love giving college kids hands-on experience and a chance to see what it’s like in the real world.”
