Chicago, IL – Chicago-based Quest Design Group (QDG) has been selected by 2RZ Architecture to provide engineering services for the conversion of Chicago’s vacant Edgewater Medical Center into apartments. The project will be run out of QDG’s Chicago office.
Located at 5700 Ashland Avenue, the Edgewater Hospital Apartments development will involve reworking the former medical center’s two separate high-rise buildings (one eight-story, one nine-story) into multi-family housing. When complete, the buildings will offer a combined 190 residential units and 211,000 square feet of living space, along with an enclosed parking garage.
“For Edgewater, we’ve designed a brand-new HVAC system that includes a furnace and condensing units with room-neutral corridor make-up air,” says Ruben De La Fuente, QDG’s VP of Operations. “QDG will also be providing designs for the development’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.”
Construction on Edgewater Hospital Apartments is already underway, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the second quarter in 2020.
